GINZA: 7 Inch

This salon's strong points.

Minimalistic Style that Enhances Individuality

7inch values the next day look rather than the freshly finished product.
Short styles are as diverse as any other, but 7inch describes their designs using their coined the term, "minimal basic." They like edgy vibes, inorganic textures, and monotonal styles. This modern salon pursues individuality and trendy looks while striving to create the ultimate everyday cut. Functionality is balanced with fashion, and this fact is why this salons male to female ratio is 1:1. Beauty in simplicity comes to mind as these stylish but minimal looks are realized by the staff.
Effortless Styles

From soft to edgy, 7inch fits personality with technique.
The owner wants to help people who have failed in finding a short cut. 7inch's specialty in cutting short hair is what has led to it's overwhelming success. Short styles require a technique and precision that a longer hairstyle doesn't need. Maintaining balance and volume by cutting with fineness, as well as creating a style that grows well over time is no small task. Hair is naturally denser towards the neck and less so at the crown, so it takes skill to work around this challenge. For these reasons, 7inch has flown to the top of the ladder in Tokyo.
"Just Enough"

You will surely find your own style that has never been seen before!
Just haircuts occupy 70% of this salons appointments. The salons way of thinking is doing "Just Enough." Using this way of thinking, the salon's cuts keep that effortless look and are easy to maintain. The salon prides itself on not recommending unnecessary things, such as perms, when the best way to achieve the customer's desire is just through a cut. The salon focuses on making money through consistent service rather than upselling. Rest at ease that this salon will give you as much as they can for your money.
Stylist Interview
I interviewed with each stylist at each salon.
I am sure you will find a perfect stylist for you.

Ryu continues to pursue the ultimate minimalistic and simplistic style. Recently perms have been very popular in Japan, however 7inch generally strays away from perms and focuses on cutting techniques to add volume and shape to hair more naturally and simply.

Yuuki has gained much experience over the past 7 years at 7inch, and it shows in her techniques. Her speciality is short styles, so please try her out if you're looking for something on the shorter side!
My Review
Ryu, the owner, pursues simplicity and functionality when creating new styles and designs. And the most surprising thing, it's near impossible to recommend a perm here because the cuts achieve the desired style on their own. While many salons fall back on the perm to create shape and volume, Ryu achieves these things through cuts alone. The looks that are created can only be realized through simple and precise techniques. When I interviewed Ryu, I felt his honesty and sincere outlook on design has become the foundation of this salon. From the consultation to the end result, you will see these feelings throughout. Whether it's the first visit or the tenth, every customer leaves feeling satisfied and confident.
